“Fasting is not so much a treatment for illness but a treatment for wellness“
JASON FUNG, The Complete Guide to Fasting
What is fasting?
Fasting is the voluntary abstinence of food for several hours to several days, which gives the body’s digestive system a chance to rest. Fasting allows the body to draw on its own fat reserves through the natural process of autophagy, where the body removes damaged or unnecessary cells to regenerate newer, healthier ones.
Why should we detox?
Our hectic lifestyles often make it difficult to maintain our health. Stress, environmental pollutants and toxins in our food can lead to chronic fatigue, loss of vitality, illness and a weakened immune system. Fasting enables us to eliminate the buildup of these toxins to activate cell renewal, burn stored fats which can restore balance and make us feel rejuvenated.
What are some of the benefits of fasting?
Increased energy and mental clarity
Fat and insulin reduction
and possibly cancer prevention
“Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease. If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.”
